Good Things Take Time

18 Oct, 2025

For over twenty years, the land has been our teacher. What was once neglected has been slowly rewoven into its natural rhythm: wild grasses are returning, native plants are reclaiming space, and birds are nesting again where silence had grown too heavy. Rewilding is a patient act, an invitation rather than an imposition, and with time, the land answers.

Only after those two decades of listening came the next chapter: six years of planning, drawing, and building, not with speed or shortcuts, but with care. Architecture, interiors, and landscape are all shaped by our own hands, utilising natural materials and guided by the forms and textures of the Serra de São Mamede. Nothing here was easy. Doing things differently rarely is. Each choice from the plants in the gardens to the linen on the beds was made to belong to this place, not to stand apart from it.

The result is not perfection, but authenticity. A retreat that asks nothing but presence. A place for those who love the rawness of nature and the comfort of simplicity. It is not for everyone, nor was it meant to be. But for those who seek it, it offers something rare: a space where every season feels right, where silence and warmth coexist, and where time finally feels like a gift.
